Paints on the [organichesikh] solvents

Paints on the solvents contain before their composition the flying organic solvent, which evaporates before the process of drying. At present by the sole solvent, which in all countries of world is allowed to use without any limitations, mineral spirits appears (purified kerosene).

With the work with the [organorastvorimymi] products it is necessary to observe the specific precautionary measures. During their putting beyond the extensive surfaces in the accomodation or before the small limited space it is necessary to use special individual protective means.

The widest use among the [organorastvorimykh] paints today obtained alkyd paints. Although the release and application as far as all of well familiar oil paints as before continues.

Oil, which dries before the oxidation process, is the bonding agent of oil paint. This can be linseed oil, drying oil on linseed oil, the oil- saturated alkyd resin or the mixture of different oils.

Linseed oil is low-molecular bonding agent, which wonderfully penetrates the wood, forming the dense water-and-moisture-proof sheeting. Paints on linseed oil differ regarding high dry residue. This connected with the fact that linseed oil as the bonding agent does not need solvents and, therefore, contains the minimum number of volatile compounds.

The advantage of oil paints is the high degree of [napolnyaemosti], and also small expenditure. They are excellent as the primings, for example, for the skin by boards. For them characteristically sufficiently slow drying.

Alkyd resin is bonding agent for the alkyd materials. Alkyd resins, in essence, are made via the melting of vegetable oils - flaxen, tall, soybean, and other - together with the alcoholic and organic acids or the acidic anhydrides. Similar to oils, alkyd resins dry as a result oxidation. The greater the fattiness (the percentage of oil) of alkyd resin, the more elastic the paint and varnish coat. The speed of drying alkyd resins is regulated by special additives - siccatives.

It is possible to influence by selection of the type of oil the period of drying, color and luster of alkyd varnish. As a rule, paints on the alkyd varnish differ regarding the ease of putting and regarding higher weather resistance in comparison with the oil paints. Alkyd materials more rapidly dry, they are not seated during drying, they do not turn yellow and, in contrast to the oil paints, practically not they [melyatsya].

By alkyd paints they traditionally protect from wear and corrosion of the different kind of surface both inside and out of the building (door, window frames, furniture, the battery of heating, and so forth). Alkyd paints maintain wet cleaning by water with the use of conventional washing means. They are used for painting of walls and ceilings in the kitchens and the tank rooms. These paints also are selected when it is desired to obtain glossy coating.

But nevertheless before the interior paints on the organic solvents are used sufficiently rarely. This is connected with the fact that, although before the contemporary [organorastvorimykh] paints is used as the solvent low-toxic mineral spirits, on ecology they are inferior everything down water paints. According to tradition they use also because of the low price, especially as the enamel for the metal. The application of alkyd paints before the interior is justified, when it is necessary to obtain the bright, saturated colors.
