Results of full-scale soil tests of the enamel [SBE]-111 “Of [unipol]”

According to normative documentation, the priming enamel [SBE]-111 “Of [unipol]” is intended for the corrosion protection of metal structures and equipment, the working before the aggressive media, in particular, warehouse accomodations, the transport for the transportation of the mineral fertilizers, conduits, metallic reservoirs, drain chutes and so forth

The previously enamel [SBE]-111 “Of [unipol]” (gray color) was tested according to GOST 9.083-78 “coatings varnish-and-paint. The methods for length-of-life tests before the liquid media” (look the annotated report from 17.01.03 g.). Results are positive.

Purpose of this work: conducting the full-scale tests of models with the coating [SBE]-111 “Of [unipol]” before the atmosphere of industrial zone and the microclimate of chemical concentrating plant.

Conducting the tests

The determination of the resistance of enamel in the atmosphere of industrial zone were conducted in accordance with ALL-UNION STATE STAN. 6992-68 “coatings varnish-and-paint. Methods for testing at the point of durability due to the atmospheric conditions”. Models with the coating were placed down the stand, which is located beyond the roof [ABK] [BPKRU]-1.

For the determination of the resistance of enamel before the microclimate of chemical concentrating plant [BPKRU]-1 (action of the aerosols of chlorides Na and K with the increased humidity of air) the models were placed above the conveyer pos. R -13, moving hot refuse of sodium chloride.

Duration of the tests of 185 days. After the expiration of this period coating state was evaluated in appearance: a change in the color, chalking, the appearance of bubbles, [treshchim], exfoliation; the state of metal under the coating; the adhesion of protective film to the metallic base layer.

Adhesion was determined according to GOST 15140-78 by the method of lattice cuts.

The results of visual inspection and determining the adhesion are carried beside Table 1.

Results of the tests

  • Reduction in the shielding properties of the coating [SBE]-111 “Of [unipol]” for both regimes of tests is not revealed: bubbles, cracks, exfoliation - are absent; the products of corrosion beyond surface film and under it are not discovered.
  • The coating “burns down” (changes color as far as the brighter), but chalkings (crumbling off of pigment) in this case it is not observed with the entry of straight solar rays.

Conclusions

  1. On the basis obtained results we consider as the expedient application of material [SBE]-111 “Of [unipol]” (gray color) for the protection of the metal structures of those exploited due to the conditions of the potassium production: inside the buildings, the construction or under the shed.
  2. With the increased requirements at the point of the decorative properties of protective coating (color) in the zones of the entry of straight solar rays this material independently to use is not recommended for the sake of t [k] it is observed a change in the color.
