Conducting tests and the delivery of conclusion about the periods of the service of coating the enamel [SBE]-111 “Of [unipol]” of stamps A and B on the galvanized iron

INTRODUCTION

Work is executed on the basis the agreement with the privately held company “[NPK] [KORRZASHCHITA]” of № 44-1975 from 02.02.2005 g. with the collateral agreement of № 44-1777 from 14.05.2005 g in accordance with the technical task.

Before the report are represented the results of the tests of the painter- technological, physicomechanical and protective-decorative properties of coatings on the basis of three layers of the enamel [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of stamp A by the thickness of 140 m, substituted down the surface of the sheet galvanized iron (without the products of the corrosion of zinc of white color) on the priming [VL]-02, and the stamp B, substituted down the surface of the sheet galvanized iron without the priming.

Work is carried out for the purpose of the establishment of the possibility of applying the coatings on the basis of the enamel [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” for the corrosion protection of metal structures through the galvanized iron with the determination of the period of their service in the industrial atmosphere (type i) according to GOST 15150-69 “machines, instruments and other technical articles” of the moderate macroclimatic region ([U]1) according to GOST 16350-80 “the climate of the USSR” under the weakly-aggressive influence of medium on SNIP (Construction norms and regulations) 2.03.11-85 “protection of structures from the corrosion”.

1. MATERIALS AND THE METHODS OF THE STUDY
1.1. Preparation of the models of coatings for the tests.

The enamel [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of stamps A and B for conducting the tests, technical specifications TU 2312-001-59846005-2003 down this material are given by customer.

The preparation of models was accomplished as follows:

  • the production of models from sheet that zinc-coated they became according to GOST 14918-80 size of 150x70x0,8 mm;
  • the degreasing of the surface of models by mineral spirits;
  • the application of the coatings:

Version 1

  • putting the one layer of the parkerizing priming [VL]-02 for the sake of a thickness of 8-12 m;
  • putting the three layers of the enamel [SBE]-111 “Of [unipol]” of the stamp A of red-brown color with the overall thickness of 140 m;

Version 2

  • putting the three layers of the enamel [SBE]-111 “Of [unipol]” of the stamp B of gray color (party of № 47 from 11.05.2005 g.) with the overall thickness of 140 m;
  • the layered measurement of the thickness of the applied coatings;
  • the edging of the ends of models by the material of coatings;
  • endurance of the applied coatings before conducting of accelerated tests is not less than 10 days with 20°[S].

1.2. Methods for testing

The comparative accelerated corrosion tests of coatings at the point of the resistance to the static action of the distilled water and 3% of solution of chloride sodium conducted concerning the method A ALL-UNION STATE STAN. 9.403-80 “[ESZKS]. Coatings are varnish-and-paint. Methods for testing to the static action of liquids”.

For evaluating the shielding properties of coatings in accordance with the task is used the standard procedure of accelerated tests, which imitates the operating conditions of coatings in the industrial atmosphere (type of the atmosphere OF THE II) according to GOST 15150-69 “machines, instruments and other technical articles” of the moderate macroclimatic region ([U]1) according to GOST 16350-80 “the climate of the USSR” under the weakly-aggressive influence of medium on SNIP 2.03.11-85 “protection of structures from the corrosion”.

Accelerated climatic testings of one (selected of two) system of coatings carried out concerning method 5 ALL-UNION STATE STAN. 9.401-91 “coatings varnish-and-paint. General requirements and the methods for accelerated tests at the point of resistance to the action of climatic factors”. The sequence of displacement, endurance of models before the apparatuses and regimes of tests are given before table 1.

the Painter- technological properties of materials the physicomechanical properties of coatings on their basis evaluated in accordance with the following acting normative documents:

  • the exterior view of coatings according to GOST 9.032-78 “coatings are varnish-and-paint. Groups, technical requirements and designation”;
  • the relative viscosity of enamel according to GOST 8420-74 “materials are varnish-and-paint. Methods of determining the relative viscosity”;
  • a mass fraction of non-volatile substances according to GOST 17537-72 “materials are varnish-and-paint. Methods of determining the content of the flying and non-volatile, solid and film-forming substances”;
  • the time of drying coatings down degree of 3 according to GOST 19007-73 “materials are varnish-and-paint. Method of determining of time and degree of drying”;
  • the adhesion of the coatings for the sake of the method of lattice cuts according to GOST 15140-78 “materials are varnish-and-paint. Methods of determining the adhesion”;
  • the strength of coatings with the impact according to GOST 4765-73 “materials are varnish-and-paint. Method of determining the strength of films with the impact”.

The thickness of coatings was measured for the sake of the method of the nondestructive testing with the aid of the thickness gauges of the electromagnetic type of the stamps of 8[M]-1[kh] (Germany), [E]1[sote]1[eg] 456 (England).

2. RESULTS OF THE ANALYSIS OF THE PROPERTIES OF COATINGS ON THE BASIS OF THE ENAMEL [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” OF STAMPS A I b.
2.1. the Painter- technological properties of the enamel

With the opening of capacities was observed the sedimentation stratification as a result of storage of the enamels of the stamps A of red-brown color (without the number of party) and B of gray color (party of № 47 from 11.05.05 g.) with the formation of sediment of average density, removed by short mixing. After mixing of enamel they had uniform consistency without the clusters and the foreign inclusions. Initial relative viscosity on [VZ]-4 with 20±2°[S] of the enamel [SBE]-111 “Of [unipol]” of the stamp A of red-brown color was 110 s., the stamps B of gray color - 89 s.

Enamels brought by air-stream atomization with the working viscosity 27-28 s. on [VZ]-4 with 20±2°[S]. down the working viscosity of enamel they diluted by xylene. The degree of the dilution of enamels composed 23-25%. After the dilution before putting of enamel 30 min. were maintained.

Both enamels were brought well. The thickness of single-layer coatings was 40-50 m. The obtained coatings are flat, are single-tone, semi-matte, slightly rough, without the foreign inclusions, pockmarks, craters and drips, red-brown and gray colors.

A mass fraction of the non-volatile substances of the undiluted enamel of the stamp A of red-brown color composed 51%, the stamps B of gray color - 52%.

The time of drying down the degree of 3 single-layer coatings with a thickness of 40-50 m was 1 hour at a temperature of 20±2°[S].

2.2. Analysis of the physicomechanical properties of coatings.

As a result the analysis of the physicomechanical properties of coatings on the basis of the enamel [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]”, substituted down the surface of the sheet galvanized iron, is established the following.

Physicomechanical properties of the coating [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” stamp A with the parkerizing priming [VL]-02 for the sake of a thickness of 10-15 m high. The strength of coatings with the impact was 30-40 cm depending on the thickness of coatings 200-120 m, respectively. Was observed the formation of small cracks on coating in the form of concentric circles without the exfoliation. The adhesion of coating composed 1 mark.

Physicomechanical properties of the coatings [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of the stamp B of gray color, substituted down the surface of galvanized iron without the primings, high: the strength of coating with the impact - 50 cm, adhesion - 1 mark.

The results of checking the basic indices of the enamels [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” at the point of the correspondence to indices TU are represented before table 2.

2.3. Analysis of the protective-decorative properties of coatings.

The comparative tests of coatings at the point of the resistance to the static action of the distilled water and 3% of solution of chloride sodium according to GOST 9.403-80 showed the following.

In 200 days of tests before the distilled water the coatings [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of the stamp A of the red-brown color, substituted on the galvanized iron with the priming [VL]-02, remained practically without the changes, their only insignificant lightening was observed.

The coating [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of the stamp B of gray color, substituted directly on the galvanized iron (without the priming [VL]-02), in accordance with the collateral agreement was put out late. At the present time the duration of the tests of these coatings was 150 days and they remain without the changes.

With coating testing before 3% solution of chloride sodium the coating [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of the stamp A of red-brown color for the sake of the priming [VL]-02 maintained 200 days of tests practically without the changes. On the coating [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of the stamp B of gray color separate bubbles appeared in 90 days of tests, they were absent in 150 days of the tests of the point of corrosion.

Taking into account the high durability of the coatings [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” before the media pointed out above, are revealed only some advantages about the shielding properties of the coating [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of stamp B over coating of stamp a.

For evaluating the protective-decorative properties of coatings with the establishment of the period of their service with the operation in the industrial atmosphere of the moderate climate were conducted accelerated climatic testings according to GOST 9.401-91 “[ESZKS]. Coatings are varnish-and-paint. General requirements and the methods for accelerated tests at the point of resistance to the action of climatic factors”.

Accelerated climatic testings of coatings carried out concerning method 5 ALL-UNION STATE STAN. 9.401-91 (type of the atmosphere II according to GOST 15150 “machines, instruments and other technical articles of performance for different climatic regions” in the zone of the moderate climate [Of [u]1] according to GOST 16350 “the climate of the USSR” - weakly-aggressive action of medium on SNIP 2.03.11-85 “protection of structures from the corrosion”).

About the agreement for the sake of the customer and in accordance with the technical task past method 5 ALL-UNION STATE STAN. 9.401-91 are carried out the tests of the coatings [SBE]-111 “UNI- SEX” of stamp B, substituted on the galvanized iron without the priming.

Coating on the basis of the enamel [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of the stamp B of gray color, substituted on the galvanized iron without the priming, maintained 80 cycles of tests about method 5 ALL-UNION STATE STAN. 9.401-91 and it is evaluated by the marks Of [a]31 (it preserved shielding properties) and [AD]4 (insignificant chalking, the color of coating badly let us distinguish), which guarantees the 10-year period of the service of coatings in the absence of requirements at the point of the decorative type of coatings.

3. CONCLUSION ABOUT THE RESULTS OF THE TESTS OF COATINGS ON THE BASIS OF THE ENAMEL [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” OF STAMPS A I B, SUBSTITUTED ON THE GALVANIZED IRON

  1. Are carried out the tests of the painter- technological, physicomechanical and shielding properties of coatings on the basis of the enamel [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of stamps A and B, substituted on the galvanized iron.
  2. the Painter- technological properties of enamel are satisfactory: enamel is single-component, it does not have the firm, difficultly mixed deposit after storage, it is prepared at the point of the work only by bringing to the working viscosity, is brought well by the method of air-stream atomization. Enamel can be applied by thick layer, has the short time of drying down degree of 3 (1 hour for the coating with a thickness of 40-50 m at a temperature of 20±2°[S]).
  3. Coatings on the basis of the enamel [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of the stamps B, substituted down the surface of the sheet galvanized iron (without the priming), possess the high physicomechanical properties: by strength with the impact according to GOST 4765-73 - 50 cm and by adhesion about the method of lattice cuts according to GOST 15140-78 -1 marks. The coatings [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of the stamps A, substituted down the surface of the sheet galvanized iron on the priming [VL]-02, possess the relatively high physicomechanical properties: by strength with the impact - 30-40 cm by adhesion about the method of lattice cuts - 1 mark.
  4. About the results of tests before the liquid media according to GOST 9.403-80 taking into account the physicomechanical properties of coatings are revealed only some advantages of the coating [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of stamp B over coating of stamp a.
  5. On the basis the results of accelerated climatic testings according to GOST 9.401-91 (method 5) the period of the service of the three-layered coatings [SBE]-111 “OF [UNIPOL]” of stamp B with the thickness of 140 m, substituted down the surface of the sheet galvanized iron (without the priming), due to the conditions of the open atmosphere of the moderate climate it is 10 years.
